New Moon Scorpio 25 October 2022 – by Flavia

We are into deep water. Welcome to the new moon and solar eclipse in Scorpio. It is happening hand in hand with Venus. So expect relationships, contracts, acts of value and beauty to come to the forefront in all of this. At the same time, Mars, the ruler of the lunation, is about to station retrograde in Gemini. The influence of a frustrated rudderless Mars and a fallen burnt up Venus, straight out of a cazimi, will be woven into everything that gestates with this new moon. Make your new moon intentions conscious of what needs to be got rid of. Scorpio being a fixed water sign, means amongst other, that we are in for a slow grind and a drawn in long term situation taking form, which would be highly emotional. We are all going to have to be brutally honest. The new moon is taking place on 25 October 2022, at 01 degrees and 59 minutes of Scorpio, and at 10:48 GMT.

The Two of Pentacles is a representation of a value balancing act. Up in the sky, Mars is pulled in opposite directions in Gemini, while Venus doesn’t know what she likes or she does not like what she wants. In either case, we are ourselves pulled in different directions. If we get distracted, which undoubtably we shall, or so it looks like with Mars stationing retrograde in a mutable sign, we are in danger of loosing our balance. And loosing out. We are performing a balancing act when it comes to what we value and the practical things in life. We are simply pulled in different directions by outside forces which we need to control. Something has to give. The outcome is  not certain. It refers to money or material possessions of some sort that we are playing with. Loss is highly likely. The Two of Pentacles is not terribly serious, however, showing that ultimately we can handle things with levity and joy. Things might become out of balance but we can still manage. We are coping well. The person is still in control throwing up pentacles in the air, while there is turbulence all around. The water element is evident as a dramatic force of nature taking over. Emotions will overflow and distract us. But at the end of the day, it might just be a case of: you win some, you lose some.

And that would have been perfectly satisfactory, if the next card was not the Wheel of Fortune. So what might start as a difficult situation that we can control with a bit of good will, focus and discipline, will develop slowly but surely into an outright super transformative moment when everything changes. The Wheel of Fortune is unequivocal in its meaning. Change will be unforeseen and overpowering. When it gets going, it is not stopping until it achieves its aim. But the aim itself, is not clear yet. It will take time and effort. It will take suffering and it will take blood and tears. Remember that Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto. So we are going deep down. We need to excavate in order to come up with the goods. It is going to be cataclysmic. Not just a game. We are not just balancing, but, actually, going off balance. It is a slow acceleration out of control as the wheel keeps turning bringing everything upside down. And we do not know where we are going to end up. Whatever we knew as stable will destabilise. What we knew as ordinary will become extraordinary, unknown and untold.

As ever, the tarot supports the stars with a visual depiction of what is written up in the sky. It is the art of manifesting in form, abstract notions and concepts. Hurtful truths will come out but a lot of the time we will find it hard to articulate how we feel or what we are thinking. We go into the future with the Three of Swords. Pain can be cathartic and a warning to health. It can guide us to do the right thing. It has to be the right thing for us and for our well-being. It is not pleasant. There is a lesson to learn. With the new moon in Scorpio we have the south node there further purging and cleansing out the poisons. Everything that is damaging to our mental, emotional or physical health has to go. Or at least, we are making a start. This is the time to let go of pain and grief. It is a process we have to go through. We will all experience it in some part of our lives. For all the scary-ness that the Three of Swords impresses upon us, it stands there as a warning for a better life that says: be kind to yourself and others, accept truth but do not react on it, know yourself and who you really are. Pain and hurt are unavoidable part of life but not represent you. We are all more than that. And whatever life through at us, we can do better. If there is loss, this is only making space for something better and brighter, something healthier and more honest to take its place.
