Physical burdens and mental fights will lead to breakthroughs in the material world. A new moon and a new beginning ruled by Mercury is upon us, as we are moving away from the height of summer and the heart energy of Leo season to discerning and anxious Virgo. And it is a cutting one as Mercury, our thoughts and words, is travelling together with impatient and vigorous Mars. On September 7th, we have a New Moon in 14 degrees Virgo. It is happening at 01:51 UK time. The New Moon is aspecting 14 degrees of Uranus in Taurus by trine, and Pluto in Capricorn by a whole house sextile. These are good aspects of positive energies and easy flow. But they are big, heavy, serious power players that bring about substantial change which is slow moving, cathartic and very impactful. So regardless all the positivity, there is tension and the resistance of the new versus the old embedded in it. These planets are also in retrograde motion, meaning they go over things from the past, as the new moon takes hold. But once they turn forwards, at a later date, they are well and truly done with whatever they are dealing with during the cycle. It is water-earth energy that will bring about the fruits of our labour. However, not before we have to go through a tough journey, deal with practical issues in a mature way, and, finally, take ownership of our own responsibilities as well as achievements.
Indeed, the 6 of Swords make it abundantly clear that we are on a journey. Possibly a mental one, in which we are thinking, planning, organising, systematising, archiving, clearing the clutter of things and ideas, preparing for the future. It is not a happy one. But it is necessary. There are no choices. Life has decreed. And as we move on, we leave something behind. It is relating us to a feeling of loss as we are huddled together with our most precious possessions, with what is our most valuable in life down to the most minimal. All excess weight has to go in order for us to move ahead. Virgo is a lean sign, an intellectual sign, and a sign linked to health and the skill of prosperity. As we can see from the card, fear and daemons are part of it too. The unknown is scary and we don’t know what we will encounter along the way. We’ve been growing in wealth and experiences during the previous seasons and now the future feels like it is closing in. But the 6 of Swords is not a pessimistic card, though it feels sad, nostalgic, and even morbid. On the contrary, the outcome is a good one. There is hope for something better on the horizon. Something we haven’t even dreamt yet. An unknown situation, condition, outcome that we are headed towards. We are faced with what has to go, and that which has to die and got rid of before we get to where we are going.
Ultimately, change is a heavy load. In order to reach to our destination, we have to carry through our responsibilities. The 10 of Wands tells us that others rely on us, and no matter how hard that might be, our determination to fulfil our role will be our pride. Our maturity is our strength. It will also determine the success of our mission. It is ironic that we have a card of loss and a card of carrying weight side by side. One of release and one of accumulation. But both show that we are on the road. The complexity of reaching our aim can not be underestimated. The journey is not straight forward. What matters to us must take priority now. Whatever sacrifice is attached to it will make it worth the effort. We are struggling for something bigger and more elevating, even if doesn’t feel that way in the moment.
As the 6 of Swords is looking to the past and the 10 of Wands is heading towards the future, the 7 of Pentacles delivers the outcome. At the end of it, we will find that we have more than what we started with. More beauty, more comfort, more abundance, more prosperity. It is a materialist card and the energies are very much supported by earth signs that are aspecting the planets at the time of the New Moon. And here with the 7 of Wands we find that we are alone with ourselves, our conscience, our own decision-making. And we have succeeded in our mission. In order to acquire the sense of peace in a bountiful garden surrounded by everything fine and wonderful, as we ourselves look magnificent and splendid, we need to take care of others, of others’ needs and of our duty to our environment physical and cultural, human and material. Virgo rules service. And service is the way through the transits of heavy planets and quick moving personal planets too, with their positive influences and difficult demanding aspects as well. The New Moon is giving us a lesson in service and the promise of a pay back. What is that we are looking for, is totally up to us.
