This week we will work with the Six of Swords from The Moon Dust Tarot. In the card we see a man dressed in a dark clothes, wearing a hat. He is standing in a boat with his back against the viewer, and appears to be travelling towards a huge pale pink moon. There are six blue swords in front of the moon. The water is moonlit, with slight waves and there is a presence of translucent fairy wings in the sky around the man.
The message of the card is that of a journey, a new way to learn things and a move forward from a stuck place, which could be physical, mental or emotional. The card reminds us that we are on track with our goals and halfway to our destination which may have been interrupted by obstacles. Now is the beneficial time to begin to relax a bit and deeply appreciate how far we have reached with our plans.
A journey of change and learning is prominent for the next four weeks with the Sun in Sagittarius from 22 November and Mars entering Sagittarius 24 November, these transits being polarized by Sagittarius Zodiacal opposite, a Gemini full moon 27 November. These shifts synchronise with the Six of Swords, and place focus on learning and being passionate about something new, and also urge us to share our accumulated knowledge with others. The current Saturn in Pisces transit supports a steady soul-growth and reminds us that hard work can be nourishing and yet philosophical. Combined with the fiery energy of Sagittarius, this cosmic setting helps us with renewed inspiration to lay grounds for new and successful projects in the weeks leading to Winter Solstice.
Our additional helper this week is the Gorgon Goddess from The Goddess Amulets. Her message is to transform anger and to reclaim power. The Gorgon Goddess is the crone aspect of the Triple Goddess, she is the one who has gone through life’s many challenges and can guide us through our troublesome journeys. Her terrifying face represents masks utilised in ceremonial settings as ritualised power enhancers by women in many different cultures. In her as aspect as Medusa, the Gorgon Goddess possesses the ability to stare her enemies to stone. Medusa herself was transformed into a Gorgon by Athena after Poseidon seduced her, only to subsequently be killed by Perseus. The Gorgon Goddess thus holds power of death and transformation and reminds us that we are able to dance with anger to reclaim our own strength, a healthier path than holding onto destructive emotions, which can make us turn into stone.
Journey with the Gorgon Goddess to reclaim power
Find a quiet place to sit or lie down, where you will be undisturbed. Take a few deep breaths and exhale, let all tension go, until you feel relaxed and grounded. Then imagine that you are standing at the entrance of a cave. It is night and the sky is deep blue-violet, with the starry path of the Milky Way above you. The ground beneath you is hard and smooth, and you feel the earth pulsating energy into your feet. You look into the entrance of the cave and you notice a violet light which is shining in the dark. You decide to step into the cave and follow the source of light. After walking inside the cave for a couple of minutes you arrive at the violet light and notice a staircase going down. The steps are naturally formed into the bedrock, a bit uneven, but you feel confident and begin your descent.
After a while you arrive at the bottom of the stairs and there is another violet light ahead. You walk towards this light and suddenly find yourself in a room with an altar. You stop and look around, and then walk towards the altar. There is a dark violet rug on the ground in front of the altar, and a violet light stands together with objects on the altar. There are stones and crystals, and a few burning candles, marigold flowers, and a large mask of The Gorgon Goddess.
You decide to put the mask on and then sit down on the rug. Being masked you feel that you can relax and gaze inwards, and you let yourself feel calm and grounded. Then you begin to sense a violet flame of energy flowing into your solar plexus chakra, removing any blocks located here. Then the violet flame travels downwards to your sacral chakra cleansing this area, and then the flame travels to the root chakra, the knees, feet, cleansing these areas and then the violet light travels down to the earth, connecting you to Mother Earth below. Then you feel how the violet flame travels up from your solar plexus to the heart chakra, to your throat chakra, to the third eye and the crown chakra, cleansing all these areas, and then it continues upwards and to the sky above.
You feel cleansed and calm through the violet flame energy. Then, through the Gorgon Goddess Mask you see another version of you. This version is filled with energy and she smiles at you. She is working on a project and she wants to show this to you. Filled with awe, you see all that you are capable of and observe any instruction or messages which this person, the other you, gives you.
After a while you feel that the vision of the other you is fading away and you decide to take the mask off. You sit in the energy of the flame for a while and then you can feel its’ energy leaving your body, and you begin to come back to the present moment. Take a deep breath and exhale a few times and feel grounded in your own body. Then open your eyes slowly and say thank you to the Gorgon Goddess for the healing received.
After the meditation, journal about the below questions:
Is there any project which you can re-light during Sagittarius season?
How can you stay on track with your progress without exhausting yourself?
Make a note of any ideas which arrive during Sagittarius season, which can support your learning.
