A new beginning. It’s time to take action. Emotionally, physically and mentally, we are moving on. The back-to-school season was heralded with the Sun moving into Virgo, since the 23rd of August, but nothing was quite ready yet. Now the moon, as it moves into Virgo, and conjuncts the Sun, will bring it down to our everyday life for good. It’s the new moon in Virgo, which takes place on 15 September 2023, at 01:39 GMT, and at 21 degrees and 58 minutes. Soon after, Mercury, ruler of Virgo, stations to turn direct in Virgo and go over the degrees of the new moon. Mercury, Sun and Moon seem to be moving forward together from this point on. This whole system will be opposed by a slow moving, miracle or catastrophe performing, Neptune in watery Pisces.
The energies have very much to do with decision making on the mental, cognitive plane, and practical action directed mainly towards issues dealing with communication and logistics. Somehow, Mercury with his winged feet is always called the communication planet, and logistics follow soon after. But from a transcendental perspective, it’s more than that. Its’ deeper meaning is about discernment, choosing the best, making hard choices unemotionally and going where we need to go, organising our thoughts, so that we are prepared to deal with our emotions, service and task making through ever changing circumstances. There is a certain nervousness associated with Virgo (and Mercury). The sense of worry and appreciation of the simple things of life – especially the natural world – before we loose it. This is not a gut wrenching Plutonic type of fear. It’s the lightness-of-being type instead. Worrying that perhaps we are not good enough. Before autumn kicks in and in anticipation of a dark winter, we are under pressure to perfect our game plan. And it has to be a perfectly good one. So, the King of Swords, the Knight of Rods, and Page of Swords, represent the entire hierarchy of nobility in the service of humanity, taking action.
We are at a grand earth trine. From Mercury, Sun and Moon in Virgo, to Pluto in Capricorn, and Jupiter with Uranus in Taurus, they are all harmoniously working together to achieve material results. A practical outcome is the way this is going towards. The three modalities: Mutable Cardinal and Fixed, are working in partnership. King, Knight and Page are taking action under the same banner. Their energies are in confluence. It’s about people, knowledge and ideas in the service of a common cause and in the same place. We have a very strong King of Swords representing clarity of ideas and actionable justice. A magnificently dressed king with a domain that overlooks palaces, lands and people, is first and foremost a representative of social order and a harmonious complete system of well-being and justice. Health and wealth are also covered here. So, everything that is initiated now needs to have, or shall have, whether we like it or not, a social dimension in order for it to succeed.
And indeed, in the King’s service we have a very passionate, capable, fiery Knight. The Knight of Rods. The Knight of Rods is beautiful in plumage and armour, creative in approach and will rush into battle for the greater cause and for others. A reminder that Mars right now is in Libra – the sign of the ‘other’. Not so active in battle then as in negotiation, letting others do the talking, and delegating action to other ranks. But certainly bursting with energy directed with immediate force. Libra is a cardinal leader sign after all. So we have an inspirational as well as dexterous fighter under our belt. We are going to start dealing with our projects in an inspiring, almost immediate new approach. It can happen suddenly and start accelerating with the new moon, and Mercury’s direct motion. As Neptune is opposing this configuration, we better be aware that we can’t know everything and cant prepare for everything either. But we can be imaginative and inspirational. We can take the lead and work with speed where things were dormant, or static, and get them moving again.
Emotionally, mentally and physically, we are feeling ready to tackle every task and find solutions to long standing problems. Venus too is direct in Leo, bringing even more passion, more love and more pride into everything we undertake to start under this new moon. And we are not alone. We have help in whatever we undertake. From the very dynamic and ever curious Page of Swords, we have a youthful spirit following us and supporting our actions at every step. The Page of Swords represents air and a push for forward movement that will sweep us along bringing with it meaning to small tasks and help us organise with joy our daily habits and routines.
The new moon in Virgo is a powerful one, preparing us for the forthcoming eclipses and the change in nodal axis. Virgo seasons in general are not very joyful but they can be playful and very appreciative of life. This new moon holds the authority of a socially conscious wise master in the King of Swords, the speedy passionate action and resolution of past issues in the image of the Knight of Rods, and the youthful inspiring help from the Page of Swords to relinquish every fear or timidity into pursuing our projects and dreams, bringing positive change and happy outcomes. Now it is time to plan for the future and take action on it, but also to appreciate life in its simplicity and daily motion.
