Full Moon in Virgo 18 March 2022 – by Flavia

The details matter. Emotions are ever present. And we are starting to confront reality – as it is staring us in the face – counting the cost of a turbulent few weeks. We are feeling sombre and pensive. The last week in particular, has been a total roller-coaster of emotions as the moon has travelled opposite Pluto, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Mercury and, finally, Jupiter, and is heading across from Neptune. Subterranean dark forces have surfaced from the bottom up, and we’ve experienced aggression, restriction and isolation coming from the top down, amplified and exaggerated through communication and a vibrant (sometimes febrile) exchange of ideas. Harmony, love and beauty, represented by Venus, who is within a malefic enclosure, have suffered attack, violence and sacrifice. But the Sun in Pisces opposed by the full moon in Virgo – and all the planets that are heading towards Pisces – signals illumination, acceptance and recognition of the greater forces. Stories and narratives upon narratives are being disclosed. Ahead of the game there is dissolution of all that seemed ancient and remarkably solid. The full moon will take place at 27 degrees and 39 minutes of Virgo, on the 18 of March, 2022, and at 07:17 GMT.

The full moon in Virgo stands across the sky, not just from the Sun and Neptune in Pisces, but also Mercury, its own ruler. Counting, deliberating, measuring, assessing and subsequently communicating that to a wider group of people will be in the spotlight. We are standing in charge of our own presence against the collective. But things are muddled and confusing. The energy of the reading, with the Page of Wands, The King of Cups, and Temperance, is totally different to the reading of only only two weeks ago, when the new moon started its journey. As things were initiated we had the power of a group dynamic and the couple configuration setting the tone. Multiple players and competing forces were starting to manifest. In the battle for prominence we found ourselves betrayed and defeated. The full moon tells us why. We had set off on false promises and imaginary outcomes. We were the Page of Wands, full of innocence, stimulation, passion and desire for achievement. Regardless, none of that has gone away. We are still as hopeful and joyful as ever. But we see now – in the reflective light of the full moon – that we are going to have to stand our ground on our own, based on our own strength. Our aim is to become the King of Cups. For now, we can illuminate through our own power, confident within our feelings and connected both to our spirit and our gut energy.

And while Full Moons tell us that things are completing, culminating or, generally, coming to ahead, the Page of Wands cautions us that it’s not over yet. We still have some way to go. The aim is ahead of us. We haven’t reached it yet. And the energy of desire is there. We are still at the beginning, but something has been revealed during the full moon in Virgo that has finally ended, and of which we have to let go. Whether we like it or not, we are certainly leaving something behind. We are turning our backs to the past, which could mean, a past way of doing things, of collaborating, connecting with others, of acting, or even of practising, of our everyday habits and rituals.

We are contemplating a more spiritual outlook. Our beliefs might be changing and the stories we tell ourselves are much more inspiring and imaginative. Our own personal power can become unbounded. Possibilities are multiple and all over the place. But all the time we need to hold our feet firmly on the ground, while we connect with our higher selves. The King of Cups is seated, is not floating. So that’s how we can use the rational and discerning influence of Virgo. At the heart of the reading there is our purpose, depicted by the King of Cups. Following our intuition will be empowering, and indeed desirable, as facts can be illusory, data deceptive. We still don’t know everything, and we could be vulnerable to believing what we would like things to be rather than what they actually are. We could be making up stories that fit a pleasing narrative. Truth could be hidden from us intentionally or not.

As an instrument in service we have Temperance. The card advices us to have patience and moderation in our actions and deeds. The time is not right for taking risks, going all out and being hasty, action oriented, or expecting things to be set in stone. It would be tempting to do so, but not helpful. Not to our advantage. Things rather than solidifying, are dissolving, and left behind, or are just drifting away. Sun and moon are in double bodied signs. Both Pisces and Virgo are mutable signs heralding change in season, and, with it, change in the environment and our own condition. We are asked not to go overboard. It’s about balancing the energies, while we are being pulled in one or another direction; as our internal focus is opposed, or distorted, by outside forces, as we are trying to get things done, or belong, but instead are being thwarted or rejected.

We have a great desire to take control of our destiny by holding the manifesting Wand firmly, and looking ahead. All planets are supporting us in this as they are moving forward too. But there are still challenges to overcome that could throw us off balance. Yes, of course we shall need realism in order to deal with so many opposing forces. At the same time our authority and maturity is our connection to our psyche. We need both our sense of emotional connection and a rational framework to help us navigate our day-to-day commitments. Reality matters, but we have the capacity to create our own, despite outside forces and complications, through inner work and dreaming. It’s about particular, detail planning and imagining, going hand in hand. We are only two weeks before the start of the new astrological year. So we are in fast forward preparation and wrapping up motion. It’s hello and goodbye rolled into one. Temperance has wings. Winter is falling apart, spring is in the air.
