We are at the health axis. But with the moon and sun conjunct in Pisces, it’s all spiritual and psychological. The emotions run high with an abundance, uncontainable by conventional wisdom or knowledge. Sun, the giver of life, together with the moon, which is reflective of our subjective reality, are almost on top of a strong amplifying Jupiter. Further down the line there is Neptune, also in Pisces. The potential for losing our measure of everything is imminent and irresistible. Behind all of this, there is action afoot with the deepest possible consequences, taking place in Aquarius and further back in Capricorn. Pluto, Mars and Venus travelling together, and Saturn are involved in subsequent conjunctions, and have a powerful influence on events and perceptions of what is real and what is desirable. However, they might be ignored, as outdated and out of time, by sun and moon pushing us forward.
And so the new moon is taking place at 12 degrees and six minutes of Pisces, on the 2nd March, 2022, at 17:34 GMT. The month has kicked off big. At the new moon we find ourselves closing a chapter, while at the same time planting the seeds for something new to begin. Nowhere else is this more pronounced than in the double-bodied sign of Pisces, the last sign of the astrological wheel, and a mutable sign that starts its journey in winter and ends in spring. With the winter behind us, from now on we are only going to be interested in growth and movement. If we felt stuck in situations and with people, that seems set to change, with or without our approval.
We are heading for announcements that could not be presented more clearly than with the celebratory card of the 6 of Wands (from the Robin Wood Tarot deck). The card looks almost like a Knight. So the element of combat, of self belief, victory, acclaim and of anticipation are all present. They are in fact elements closed within this new cycle that is in the process of forming; it will take a couple of weeks to release its real form, and up to six months for a fuller manifestation of its potential. So that with the Pisces new cycle, we are fired up to move ahead and feel quite unstoppable. But also very beautiful, Venusian presence should not be underestimated, and heroic, with Mars charging side by side. Here we see it in the splendid white horse, and ribbons and flags, and all the warrior paraphernalia. In the background people are cheering. We are going to want (or even expect) recognition, and participation in all that is going on. We have a strong sense of leadership. The card suggests progress will be steady, passionate and filled with confidence. The six of wands shows leadership, but because it is in the middle of the wands cycle, it is more of a sign that indicates there is still road ahead, before any results or substantial achievements materialise.
Everything that happens right now, happens in double quick time. With it it carries lots of emotions and nostalgia for our roots and ancestry, of innocence and childhood memories, a retrospect sentimentality. Our past overtakes our future. It is the unmistakable 6 of Cups that strands firm in the middle of the spread and hold in the energy of a very emotional situation or of an inner state of being. Everything is about context though, and the 6 of Cups sandwiched between the fiery, proud, and confident, leadership card of 6 of Wands on one side, and the 5 of Swords card of defeat, abandonment and failure on the other, complexifies matters. Things are just not as straightforward as they appear.
The real problem is with the sequence of events. And it might indicate that something that starts so upbeat, and full of the most amazing potential, can end in a disastrous way, once we give in to sentimentality and fantasies stemming from our past. An attitude that is divorced from reality, or that bears the signs of regression and infantile sentimentality can lead us to wrong conclusions. The 6 of Cups is a card of joy and playfulness. But the outcome indicated by the 5 of Swords, is betrayal and loss. And that maybe closely linked to our relationship to our roots and background, people from our past, our family of origin, or place of birth. When our beliefs, actions and ideas upon which we plan and organise ourselves around, are not a realistic representation of our actual situation or conditions under which we undertake a project, an adventure or a relationship, we are exposing ourselves to defeat and failure. People who had encouraged us might now turn their backs to us and ignore us. Institutions we counted on decline to support us. Our hopes and wishes might be crushed. But we are still standing. At the end of the day, that’s what we have to take away with us. Even if we have to leave people behind or abandon projects we felt passionate about, it is time to move on. Accept defeat and depart from the battlefield. The 5 of Swords card indicates that we have fought and lost. Unfortunately, this is the card at the outcome of the spread. But just for now. It’s not forever, because we are still here. Perhaps turbulent and windswept, but we have survived the internal and external storms. Time to move on. Time to reevaluate our relationship to our past and our roots. Time to rethink our leadership status and take responsibility. We pick ourselves up – and if the idea didn’t work out this time – there will be other opportunities and other conditions. No matter what happened in the past, we are still in charge of our futures.
