The Magician is our card for this week, and in the Mermaid Tarot by Dame Darcy, he is depicted as a merman, rising from the ocean. His bare chest and arms are adorned with bands of red flowers, and his headdress and necklace contain pieces of red coral and his decorated fish-tail is also red. He is an athletic and slim merman-Magician, with a strong, straight posture and a faraway, trance-like gaze. His hands are commanding the elements, visible in the different suits of wands, pentacles, cups and swords are levitating around him, as entities of free will. His pointer, the finger corresponding to .Jupiter, points downwards, as if to ground the elements into the ocean. Waves are created as he rises from the green-blue water and there is a starburst behind his head.
The card of The Magician brings a message of initiation and action, but the kind of action which has taken in consideration all possible aspects and then released them into the universe for the best outcome. There is no pressure to perform or to be somebody who you are not. Instead focus on your innate qualities and on that which brings you comfort and confidence. You are an eloquent being and you deserve the best. The Magician is always a positive confirmation of balance and of trust. We are part of the bigger whole and this is what The Magician reminds us about. Everything is magical and we have come to this earthly plane to conduct our business in the best way we can. The Magician breaks through the illusion and shows us how things move forward and manifest according to our own free will. You will not fall into the trap of not knowing who you are.
Aries season began at Spring Equinox last weekend, and the fire element is activating a renewed sense of who we are and where we are going. Work with The Magician during the next few weeks to uncover your full potential and ask for the help of the elements if you feel stuck. We all carry the four elements of air, fire, earth and water within us and in our astrological charts, and they can be activated to provide us healing and comfort. During the current full moon in Libra, which is narrated by Flavia here, we can feel a call for liberated joy and a desire for committed partnerships arising. Sit down in a quiet space. Take a few deep breaths and relax.
Look at The Magician. Notice how the handsome mermaid-Magician enchants the elements of fire, air, earth and water. He is controlling them and at the same time allowing them to be what they are – free entities with their own destiny. The water splashing at his sides is invoking movement but not the forced kind, instead it is flowing and creating waves which find their way through all obstacles. The shiny star behind The Magician is comforting with its brightness and spark, allowing for a cleanse and refreshing feeling to arise. Relax and let your feeling guide you to a focal point in the image and stay there for a while.
Stay in meditation for 5 to 10 minutes.

Additional practice – Fire Opal Sacral Chakra cleanse
In this week’s additional practice we will journey with Fire Opal. Opal is an amorphous crystal with no crystalline structure, it is composed of silicon dioxide and has a high water content. Fire Opal is named for its fiery yellow and orange colour, which is created from traces of iron oxide. The name Opal comes from the Latin opalus, and possibly originates from the Sanskrit upala, precious stone. Pliny the Elder infers it could be related to Ops, the wife of Saturn and Goddess of fertility. In Greek, Opal was called opallios, “to see a change in colour” and pederos, “the child of love” and paederos “the delicate complexion of a lovely youth.” In the Middle Ages the term opalus came to be known as ophthalmos, or ophthalmius, which means “The Eye Stone” and reflected its ophthalmic qualities. Because Opal has a an amorphous structure it is considered a transformer crystal, helping us to change our situation, and doing this, we transform our lives.
Fire Opal is a stone of luck, abundance, creativity and it brings zest and passion to life. It enhances intuition and helps us to make better decisions by trusting our instincts, and it can be used to enhance visions and lucid dreaming. It can call in abundance and financial success in new business ventures. Fire Opal also helps with independence and finding a new direction in life, since it awakens optimism, enthusiasm and creativity. It is protective and helps to remove situations of injustice and mistreatment. Because Fire Opal is connected to the elemental energy of fire it has the potential to awaken passion, both physical desire and spiritual ecstasy. It can help to awaken the kundalini energy at our sacrum and release inhibitions relating to our body and mind. Opal was associated with Mercury, who guided the souls of the dead to the underworld, and it can help those who conduct healing journeys into other realms, for themselves or for others.
For the healing ceremony, lie down in a comfortable position. Place the Fire Opal on your sacral chakra. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths and relax. Feel how the orange colour is entering your sacral chakra, cleansing and removing any blocks in this area. Then sense how the orange energy is going down to your root chakra, and cleansing this area. The orange healing energy continues to travel down to your knees, your feet and then travels down to Mother Earth and grounds you. Take a few deep breath and release anything you no longer need. Now the Fire Opal energy moves up from your sacral chakra to the solar plexus, then the heart chakra, the throat, the third eye and the crown chakra, and from here it rises above and connects to the Sky Father above. Sense how the warming orange energy is cleansing your whole body. The rays of orange light is pulsating from one chakra to another. Then the Fire Opal energy expands into the aura and removes any blocks or hindrances. You feel the healing orange energy surrounding you. Stay in this vibration for a while. Note any messages you receive at this point.
Slowly open your eyes and come back to the present. Take a deep breath and say thank you to Fire Opal and its’ healing gifts. You can repeat this practice anytime you feel you need to activate and cleanse your sacral chakra and to invoke a new cycle of action.
