Weekly Wisdom by Mirasol – 14 September 2020

The Eight of Materials (pentacles) from The Muse Tarot is our guide this week as we navigate from the Pisces full moon to the Virgo new moon. In the card, the muse of The Eight of Materials is depicted with eight arms, she wears a black top and a dark red and black skirt. Her hips are emphasized with a wide metallic belt. There are eight dark pink roses around her and larger roses frame the whole image. Her dancing posture is full of imagination, femininity, balance and trust.

The card comes with a message of material reward after hard work. It appears as if the muse of The Eight of Materials is manifesting roses out of thin air, but at closer look she is very grounded. Wearing black and red, she is fully aware of her root chakra, balanced and energised. Her eight arms invoke the imagery of Durga or Lakshmi, both whom are at times depicted with eight arms. Being both the Mother Goddess and the Goddess of Wealth, the Eight of Materials suggests that we are embodying maternal qualities alongside being great manifestors. Believe in your own creative powers and you will be rewarded. Though abundance does not always have to be material. Use this time to connect to the flow of ideas and build up a repertoire to be utilised to call in wealth at a later date.

Astrologically, the card is synthesising Virgo seasons materially oriented crafting of health and wealth, and it is also reminding us of Mars in Aries and his retrograde energy. We might feel as we have eight arms, working madly, but not yet getting anything done since the red planet is slowing it all down. Remain calm and do what you can. There is no need to push through a concrete wall and exhaust yourself. Instead trust the flow and do your work in a grounded manner. Co-ordinate all of your eight arms and they will provide and produce new and imaginative results.

Meditation with The Eight of Materials

Try this meditation with The Eight of Materials.

Sit down in a quiet space. Take a few deep breaths and relax.

Look at the image of the card. Observe how the woman is creating roses with her magical manifestation skills and see how she is balancing these with her graceful and balanced movements. Notice how her posture is both grounded and imaginative as she conjures material wealth. Feel the softness of the roses and inhale their healing scent as they swivel in the air. Find your creative grounding in the image and feel grateful basking in its lovely imagery.

Stay in meditation for 5 to 10 minutes.

After the meditation, journal about the below questions.

How can you manifest the best for yourself?

Which mother figure/deity are you feeling an affinity with?
