The Sun is exalted in Aries and April is the month of Aries. On April 7th we also have a full moon in Libra, a Venus ruled sign, and on the 23rd we have a new moon in Taurus, also a Venus ruled sign. So expect a lot of the Venus-Mars relationship to play out. April therefore is associated with initiation and pleasure. Martian fiery qualities of action, dynamic physicality, bold urges and impulsive fast moving expressions of self should fill us all with optimism, if not in general, certainly, in some area of life. And yet, this time we start April with a pause and a pensive contemplative disposition unlike anything that we’ve known so far.
The 7 of Coins in the Mystical Tarot is a luscious and super decorative card of beauty. It has a high Renaissance vibe that is in sync with a spring like feeling that is unavoidable. But it is also a very materialistic energy of beautiful clothes, tools of trade, rich landscape, clear skies and gold coins. It is at the same time Venusian and Martian. We have put the tools down, or we rest on them, looking at our material possessions, taking stock, and recounting our past achievements. There is abundance and growth, but there is also the sense that time is standing still. There is inactivity. Perhaps we need to wait a bit longer before we can enjoy the fruits of our labour. The Aries symbol in the top corner is a reminder that there are many different ways in which Aries dynamism can be present. This time it is about assessing the long term and patience to see things grow.
In order to understand it better we have to look at our centre which is also the centre of the spread. There sits the Queen of Cups. She is love. She is the force that draws all our energies and talents towards goals and success. She’s holding the cup in a nurturing way while she’s flanked by dragons on each side of her marble throne. She’s certainly not letting go any time soon. The things we love and we care for are what matters more than anything right now. In the empty landscape, serious discerning choices are being made. Our decisions on what stays and what goes are made with confidence and authority. The queen is a ruler energy. And she is an absolute force. While she sits still change is afoot.
The Chariot signifies the type of change that is complete, fast moving and overwhelmingly strong. Things will be left behind. The moon is behind us. But we are only looking ahead now with a sense of urgency. By the end of the month things will be driven, with us or without, at a faster pace and by wider forces, for better or for worse. Determination and will power will drive us to break with the known and the regular whether we like it or not. What we love and value will make it possible by endowing us with superhero qualities we never knew we had. We will take charge of our responsibilities and act upon them. The Chariot is upheaval on a massive scale. It will be interesting to see where it leads.
