As January came to a close we got a taste of what is to follow with the new moon in Aquarius. And while the heaviness of Capricorn has been lifted with a drive to do things differently in February, and decision making based on abstract and progressive thinking, Aquarius intellectual energy is still very serious.
Seven of Coins is a contemplative state of being that is suggestive of the need to take the long view. Or that we will inevitably be in a state of assessment, looking at our achievements before moving forwards, having a break from intense activity and settle into a new construct. The Saturnian energy, however, is still with us. Here we have reached a moment when our long term commitment, values and life purpose absorb our focus. Resistance to change has not been entirely overturned. Saturn is holding on tight, materialising in hierarchy and a gradual ascent towards a goal. A re-evaluation of the past before we jump into our future will be forced upon us one way or another, by the Mercury retrograde at the middle of the month. With its shadow period, this astrological event will cover all February, and will spread out to early March.
Both the Seven of Coins, and what follows it, the Six of Wands, tell us that things are looking good. And that’s all despite the drama and events of January. The coins represent earthly values but we see that towards the ascent they grow wings and are illuminated, therefore bringing forwards a smooth transition towards February. If anything, the Six of Wands tells a cautious tale of not letting success get to our heads. Passions and head- thinking dominate most of the month. But it will be a Mercurial month, so expect successes as well as news. Respect and admiration is upon us. The earthly successes will be transformed into glory and emotional high standing. It will arrive through own accomplishments of personal achievement, whether a scientist, a worker, an artist or an athlete, bringing in the flame of heroic recognition.
In the Alchemical tarot The King of Cups is a whale able to fill her own cup and wearing a crown. So with recognition comes transformation. There is the potential to be transformed alchemically into masters of intuition. We can seek our own rewards, secure in our inner truth. That will make us feel secure amidst the greatest turbulence and we can find our own fulfilment in something bigger than ourselves.
